Athletic Director/Administrator of the Year Award
Out there – somewhere – are some very fine school administrators who make a huge difference in the success of our coaches and cheerleaders! Now it’s our turn to do something for them!
The ICCA would like to recognize those athletic/activity directors and school administrators who actively support and promote cheerleading in their schools and communities. Many of our AD’s and principals are instrumental in promoting our programs, and we need to reward and commend these individuals for their support. The winner will be invited to our spring banquet and awarded with a plaque.
This year we will award a special athletic director or administrator for this award.
The criteria for nomination are as follows:
The athletic/activity director or administrator must be nominated by his/her cheerleading coach who is a member of the ICCA.
The athletic/activity director or administrator must have been in the position in his/her current school for at least three years.
The Coach making the nomination needs to send:
Recommendation from the ICCA Coach:
1) Discussing his/her contributions to the cheerleading program. This should include specific ways the athletic director or administrator has helped and promoted the program.
2) Explain his/her philosophy on the role of cheerleading in his/her school (The coach could obtain this through and interview with the AD/Administrator.)
3) Any awards he/she has received, any significant positions he/she has held in organizations (both school and has held in organizations (both school and non-school), his/her previous education/athletic experience, and his/her educational background. (The coach could obtain this through and interview with the AD/Administrator.)
Recommendation from a school administrator or the booster club president discussing the AD’s or administrator’s overall program within the school. This recommendation should include specific ways that the AD or administrator supports all programs, and how well he/she works with administration/coaches.
Recommendation from a cheerleader from his/her school, stating what he/she feels the athletic director or administrator has contributed to the cheerleading program. This recommendation could also come from a cheerleader who has been out of school for no more than one year.
All of the above information should be sent together in one packet.
Nominations need to be turned in by March 15.
