Special Olympics Iowa 2010
Cheerleading Squad

Attention High School Cheer Coaches:

The ICCA has been asked to be a part of Special Olympics Iowa 2010. This is the 5th year that we have been performing. It is a very rewarding experience for the cheerleaders and the athletes. All high school cheerleaders are invited to be a part of this special event. It is preferred that the coach attend with the cheerleaders, however if this is not possible a cheer parent will be permitted.

Participation and Fees:
The first 50 cheerleaders to pay their non refundable fee of $10 will be accepted. Make all checks payable to the Special Olympics. ONLY 4 cheerleaders per school, please! The deadline to register is May 1st. Click here for a registration form. The cheer coach can get a tee shirt and box supper at Hilton the evening of the performance, for $10. You must indicate what size on the registration form.

Date and Responsibilities:
The cheerleaders will learn a routine at Ballard High School on May 20th, 2010. Registration will start at 8:30 AM and practice will start at 9 AM SHARP!! Next, the cheerleaders will hold a cheer clinic for the Special Olympic athletes in the afternoon. They ICCA cheerleaders will then perform their routine they learned that day, in the evening at the Special Olympics Iowa 2010 Opening Ceremonies held in Ames at Hilton Coliseum. A detailed schedule will be given that day at Ballard High School.

What To Bring And Wear:
Coaches must be sure to bring Form D and the ICCA Release and Appearance Agreement form for each cheerleader. Cheerleaders will need to wear shorts, a t-shirt and cheer shoes to practice. We will be in a wrestling room, so at times they will need to remove their shoes. All NFHS Spirit Rules will be followed including NO JEWELRY during the practice and the performance. Cheerleaders will also need to bring money for lunch. We will break for lunch between 12:30 and 1:00 PM.

For the performance cheerleaders will wear their cheer uniform with a turtleneck underneath and bring your POMS. There are many restaurants in Ames. You will be given time between practice and the performance to eat and dress.

We hope to see you there for this great experience. Those confirmed participants will receive more information at a later date. Send your registration forms and fee by May 1st to:

Sandy Norby
3237 Hickory Ave
Osage, IA 50461.
