Nomination forms for tryouts : 2012
Dear Cheerleading Coach: ( Game on Saturday July
21, 2012)
We request your assistance in nominating cheerleaders
for the 2012 Iowa Shrine All-Star Cheer Squad. The nominees can be either
a current Junior or Senior and needs to be a member in good standing on your
high school cheer squad. A school may bring any number of nominees to the
actual tryout this year; however, seniors who have the necessary skills
will get priority over the juniors and only (2) will be chosen from the same
school.
What is the Iowa Shrine All-Star Cheer Squad? The Iowa
Shrine All-Star Cheer Squad will be made up of 60 of the best cheerleaders
in the State of Iowa. These young men and women will cheer at the Iowa
Shrine Bowl, which is held in July. They will also have the opportunity to
perform an 8-10 minute routine at the pre game and half time of the game.
The football players chosen for this prestigious event are also the best in
the state.
If you are not familiar with the Shrine Bowl, here is
a little information. The Shrine Bowl is played to help benefit the
Shriner’s Hospitals for Children. These hospitals across the country help
children with medical expenses. The Shrine Bowl helps to raise up to
$100,000 each year for the Hospitals. If one of your cheerleaders makes the
squad, he/she will be asked to raise at least $500.00 or more
from sponsors in his/her town. Most of this money will go toward the
Shriner Hospitals to help these children in need.
If one of your cheerleaders receives the honor of
making the squad, he/she must be available for the week of July 16th.
through the 21st. Within this week, they will be practicing,
visiting a Shriner Hospital, attending an Honor Banquet, be in a Parade, go
to Adventureland, and of course cheer the game itself and be apart of the
pre game and half-time entertainment! Please take all this into
consideration before nominating any cheerleader to tryout.
Please fill out
the nomination form and return it . Please print or type all data so it can
be easily read for further communication with the nominees. The following
criteria should be taken into consideration in selecting the nominees:
-Nominees should be skilled
cheerleaders who know and abide by ICCA and
NFISA Spirit Rules
(no jewelry, hair up, fingernails cut, no glitter etc.)
-Nominees should be good
students who are involved in school and community
Activities. They
should be of good character and recognized as a credit
to their school
and community.
-Nominees to be free of
serious injury and available to attend a full training camp
for one full week
(July 16 to July 21). There
will also be a
$20.00 try out fee to cover location costs.
Nominees should, of course, be
consulted to determine that they are willing to be
nominated and will
be committed to all the above considerations;
Which means being
willing to raise at least $500.00 for the Hospitals, too.
Tryouts will be held the weekend of January 21st.
