The ICCA is bringing to you a great opportunity
to recognize exceptional coaches, Administrators, individuals and
teams in the cheerleading community. In order to bring more
recognition to those in our state, the ICCA is giving all members
and Athletic Directors the opportunity to nominate for these awards.
Send all paperwork to:
Nancy Huether
216 Cypress Drive
Huxley, IA 50124
ICCA will choose an active District Coach of the
Year and a District Contributor of the Year from each of the
six ICCA Districts in Iowa.
All district winners will be automatic nominees for the Active Iowa
Cheer Coach and The Iowa Contributor of the Year awards. The district
and state winners will be notified, and ICCA will recognize all winners
at our State Competition and our
Annual Spring Conference Banquet.
Life Time Achievement Award
nomination forms are due September 10th. Please include at least one
letter of recommendation from you or some other member of your school or
community.
This award is strictly an ICCA award for that coach or former coach who
has worked with cheerleaders for many years. They've stood the test of
time by being patient and caring. They've dealt with parental issues,
cheerleader issues, school issues, sportsmanship, ordering uniforms, pep
rallies, and creating cheers and dances. These extraordinary people have
experienced the ups and downs of coaching, winning and losing seasons
and the challenges of each.
They've watched the young, inexperienced cheerleader turn into a
dynamic, poised, young adult. They've had enough experiences to write a
book. Many continue to give of their time and energy to cheerleading in
Iowa even after they've retired from coaching. It's time to honor them.
The winner of this award will be recognized at the
State Cheerleading Competition and our
Annual Spring Conference Banquet.
Active Iowa Cheer Coach of the Year Award
nomination forms
are due September 10th.
This award must be given to an active cheer coach in Iowa who must
exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and
moral conduct. You may nominate any active coach in the state for this
award. This person does not need to be in your district. The nominee
must be a member of ICCA.
Iowa Contributor of the Year Award
nomination forms
are due September 10th.
This award must go to someone who is not an active coach but may be a
past coach. These are people you wish to recognize for their service to
cheerleading in your district or throughout the state. They also must
exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and
moral character. You may nominate an adult who has contributed
significantly to the success of cheerleading in your school or state.
Years of Service Award winners will be
recognized at our Annual Spring Conference
Banquet based on information taken from the conference
registration form.
Activities/Athletic Director or Administrator
Award nominations are due March 10.
Each year ICCA members are invited to nominate special administrators
that go above and beyond in helping and recognizing their cheerleaders.
You must be a member of ICCA to make a nomination.
The Activities/Athletic Director or Administrator must have been in that
position at the current school for at least three years. Nominations are
sent and a special committee chooses a winner. The winner is presented a
plaque and recognized at the ICCA Annual
Spring Conference Banquet.
You may submit your nomination in letter form listing the
administrator's specific contributions to the cheerleading program,
his/her philosophy on the role of cheerleading at your school, any
awards he/she has received, any significant positions he/she has held in
organizations, his/her previous education/athletic experience, and
his/her educational background. This can all be obtained through an
interview. Also send a letter of recommendation from another school
Administrator or Booster Club President and a letter of recommendation
from a cheerleader. All of the above information should be sent to:
Nancy Huether
216 Cypress Drive
Huxley, IA 50124
Sportsmanship Award nominations are due
March 10.
Each year ICCA members are invited to recognize other schools and/or
cheerleaders for exemplifying exceptional sportsmanship during the
year. A member can send in a letter of recommendation. Award
certificates are given to the recipients at the ICCA
Spring Coaches Conference.
Friend of Cheerleading Award nominations are
due March 10.
Each year ICCA members are encouraged to recognize those people who
contribute so much to our programs but get no money and no
recognition. This award is a special way to recognize these great
contributors. ICCA members write a letter of recognition. Award
certificates are given to the nominating coaches at the ICCA
Spring Coaches Conference and coaches can
award them to their Friends of Cheerleading at a convenient time.
