All-Star Cheerleading Squad

~COACHES MUST BE MEMBERS OF ICCA TO HAVE CHEERLEADERS TRY OUT FOR THE ALL-STAR CHEERLEADING SQUAD~

The ICCA is excited to join together with the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association to put together a great weekend featuring senior basketball players and talented cheerleaders. The cheer teams are chosen through a tryout process by video. A panel of ICCA coaches choose cheerleaders from each district in the state to participate in four squads of All-Star cheerleaders. The All-Stars are sent a video from which to learn cheers, chants, and a pom routine. When they get together in March at Dallas Center Grimes High School, they are also taught a choreographed routine. Over the weekend the cheerleaders cheer for both boys’ and girls’ teams from their district and then perform their choreographed routines at the half times.

The following cheerleaders were chosen this year by video tryout to be members of the IBCA/ICCA All-Star Cheer Squad. The uniforms were furnished by GTM Sportswear.

All-Star Cheerleading 2010 UPDATE

The Iowa Cheerleading Coaches’ Association in conjunction with the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) will select cheerleaders to be placed on 4 All-Star Cheer Squads to cheer and perform at the ICBA/Goalsetters Basketball Tournament to be held March 27th and 28th 2010. The cost is $50.00 per cheerleader. 

Eligibility: Sophomore, Junior or Senior Cheerleaders who are in good standing with his/her squad and school. Seniors will have first choice over underclassmen with like abilities. The cheerleader’s coach must be a member of ICCA. The coach is not required to attend.

To be chosen, the cheerleader must submit the following;
1. A coach’s recommendation, stating why this cheerleader should be chosen.
2. Liability and eligibility form.
3. A video demonstrating cheering abilities.

Video: The cheerleader must submit the following items on video. The tape or DVD will not be returned.

1.     A short cheer, incorporating strong motions. (no stunts, tumbling or jumps)
2.     A short dance (4, 8 counts)
3.     A toe touch.
4.     Video tape or DVD, recommendation and form must be postmarked by January 15, 2010 to be considered. Send all requirements to Betty Lou Jones, Box 249, Swea City, Iowa 50590.

Judging of videos will be done by ICCA Board Members and the All-Star Committee. The committee will review all videos submitted and make their decision based on skills and recommendation. All selections are final.

A DVD will be sent to the cheerleaders chosen and they must learn the material before they report to practice on the March 26th 2010 at 1:00.
